The heart of my photographic soul; abstract photography has taken a prominent place in my creative life. Reflections, patterns, interesting and mystifying connections...that's what I love about abstraction.
My goal is to travel the entire globe, so this page will probably get split off into countries/cities at some point. For now, enjoy a selection from my travels to North and South America as well as Europe.
Capturing those blissful first moments as a married couple is priceless. My first wedding photography gig was for a friend of the family, and I guess I did alright seeing as I've been asked to shoot weddings ever since.
Living in Chicago I really am quite spoiled by all of the art and culture, but what this city has to offer that no other can is it's amazing array of architecture. From Burnham to Wright, Chicago has it all.
Shots of various folks doing what they do.
A project exploring everyday bravery that often goes unnoticed. My wife Valerie lends her own anxieties and fears for examination in this set. I am very proud of her.
Pattern and texture form a subset interest to my love of abstract photography. Everyday we walk past by these innocuous glimpses of beauty but rarely do we give them much thought. I like to think about the feeling of the object, how it reflects light or absorbs it, how it interacts with the environment.
Overlooked beauty is a common theme in my photography. In this series I exploited the grunge and dilapidation of the urban transit system here in Chicago, juxtaposing the imagery into mysterious portals that give viewers a new and heightened perspective of the beauty of decay.
I am fascinated by architecture. In this series I used my collage technique to explore the complexity of windows and doors that grace our buildings and homes. Windows and doors are passageways to another world, another dimension of existence within our shared world outside. Bringing them closer together gives a sense of hyperconnectivity and community.
This series is a self-portrait of sorts, a reflection of my younger self wanting to be a rockstar like my hero George Michael.
Photography that I used in creating my senior thesis project exploring the idea of silence.
